The Kaddish Prayer (or “Holy Prayer”) is a central element found in the Jewish prayer service and appears in differing versions and lengths depending on its liturgical function. Often associated with mourning rituals (funerals or memorials), the Kaddish Prayer, in its complete version, concludes with a passage praying for peace. It is this concluding passage of the Kaddish I have chosen to set to music- here, a quiet, almost distant, supplication for peace. Kaddish Prayer is dedicated to Chorus Pro Musica and music director Betsy Burleigh.
